School Orientation

Hello students and parents, Lakewood High School staff is committed to improving the academic performance and increasing student motivation. We also understand the impact that freshman year can have on a student’s future. In efforts to give your student the support that they deserve, we have placed them in a Student Orientation class. The purpose of this class is to provide time and space to students so that they have extra time during the school day to focus on their academics and personal growth. Peer Mentors will be available during this class to offer one on one tutoring and to help your student successfully transition from middle school. Lessons covering time management, organization, motivation, and other character building topics will be implemented during the School Orientation class as well. The School Orientation class still allows your student to have elective classes and a free period. Our goal in offering this opportunity for your student is to create an environment that will help your student gain the knowledge and develop necessary skills to succeed his/her freshman year and beyond.
