This is the image for the news article titled Inherit your Tickets to Inherit the WindThis year’s annual fall play is Inherit the Wind by Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee, directed by David Payne, the current theatre instructor. The play runs from November 11 through November 13. Tickets are available for 10 dollars for adults, 5 dollars for students, and 5 dollars for senior citizens. The play is a story told in a courtroom and was inspired by the real-life ‘monkey trial’ where a science teacher in Tennessee taught Darwin’s theory of evolution instead of the idea of creationism.
Although the play was written as a commentary on the McCarthy trials and the red scare in the 1950s, David Payne spoke about a more modern meaning that can be found in the play: “The right to think is pertinent today.” Payne also spoke about the challenges this play has posed such as the large cast of characters but mentioned how the actors have risen to the challenge to put on a great show for everyone. Seeing the shows is a great way to support the Theatre Company, but if you would like to do more, the company is always accepting new members. You might like to audition to act in the spring musical or want to join one of the eight different crews that work behind the scenes to make the productions the best that they can be; there is something for everyone in the company.
Members who join after the fall play also receive a discounted membership fee. The show dates are coming up soon, so make sure to get your tickets and see the casts’ efforts come to fruition.
