This holiday of love is starting to be celebrated with friends just as much as it is with a significant other. The new trend of celebrating this holiday as a group is starting to become more popular; it is commonly celebrated on February 13.

During a poll at Lakewood High School, eighteen out of the twenty-five people that were interviewed are not celebrating Valentine's day at all. However, several people have plans to celebrate the holiday with their friends.

Valentine’s day can also be for friends celebrating friends. People will get together and have their own ‘date’ as friends.

“We are getting dressed up in red and we plan on going on a date to the Cheesecake factory. After, we are going to have a spa night and make cookies,” says junor Natalie. She has plans on February 12 with a group of two friends.

“We are going to Chick-fil-A and spend some time together,”  says freshman Valeria. She has plans with three friends on February 14. She is going with two other girls and one guy.

The original point of Valentine's Day is to celebrate romance and love. Some people are still planning on celebrating it with their significant other.

“I am going on a date to Color Me Mine with my boyfriend,” says junior Aubree. She is celebrating Valentine's Day with her boyfriend on February 13.

If you are single this year and you don’t have a special someone to celebrate Valentine's Day, maybe consider celebrating the holiday with your close friends!
