With their hard work and dedication towards this season, the grit of the LHS wrestling team all paid off in the end.

With five state qualifiers and one wrestler placing third at state last week, the wrestling team has put in hours of work during practice and matches that got them to where they are today.

Elijah Greigo, a state qualifier and junior at Lakewood, says that his “state experience was great, and I got further than I have in the past.” His dedication towards wrestling has paralleled his hard work, and it's clear when you see him wrestle.

While winning the regionals tournament, Elijah also shares that his favorite part of the season was reaching the finals to qualify for state.

With practices almost every day after school and wrestling matches every weekend, it becomes time-consuming. It's clear to see that the season has been long, lasting from November to February.

While he already has worked very hard,  Elijah says that “If I could change anything from this year, I would change the amount of work I put into practices and do more.”

Elijah, also on the cheer/poms squad at Lakewood, expresses that he “had the experience of state to share with the cheerleaders.”

With the wrestling season coming to an end, Elijah says that the experience altogether was great and worth it. The wrestling team has done an amazing job representing Lakewood as a whole, and they continue to do so with their gratitude and dedication towards the sport.
