As the spring assembly approaches, the Lakewood Cheer squad prepares for their performance by learning their dance and practicing the class cheers; there is one aspect of this assembly that sets it apart from the others: Man Poms.

Man Poms is an opportunity for the male population at Lakewood to work one-on-one with the cheerleaders and cheer coaches in order to learn a dance of their own. The experience is totally free, except for the optional t-shirts that cost $6.

Practices start at six o’clock p.m. and go until eight o’clock p.m. in the east atrium at Lakewood High School. They begin on Thursday, April 7, and continue every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday until Wednesday, April 20. The final performance is at the Spring Fling assembly on Friday, April 22 where the Man Poms will have an opportunity to showcase their hard work in front of their peers.

The Man Poms will learn a dance of their own, as well as a dance with the Lakewood cheerleaders, ending with stunts. Any male student of any grade is welcome to come. The more the better! If you are interested and have any questions, feel free to reach out to any Lakewood cheerleader or head coach Kellie Coates at [email protected] . The QR code to sign up is linked above. Hope to see you there!
