  To All Parents and Students

Dear Valued LHS Performing Arts Families and Patrons,

First, I apologize if you're receiving this email multiple times.

As you’ve probably expected, Covid-19 has affected performing arts in schools on many levels. Some are extreme - from cancelled seasons and events - to routine - the way we conduct activities in the classroom with students on a day to day basis. Many of these restrictions carry the potential for harmful effects on the mental well-being of teens.

With the goal of providing a sense of community and a dash of normal life to the students in our performing arts programs, the Lakewood High School Performing Arts programs are committed to maintaining performance experiences. Now more than ever, teens need something they can count on. We aim to be one of those anchors for them in troubled times.

This fall, the theatre, orchestra, and choir programs are planning A Weekend of Performing Arts October 24-25, held outside with socially distanced audiences. To best serve our students and patrons, this event calls for an outdoor stage to enrich the performances and make them viewable to parents and community members who wish to attend.

But we need your help. With cancellations in the spring, Covid-19 has created a funding gap and disruption to the opportunities and services we provide students. In order to provide the outdoor performance stage, we need assistance with funding. We’re hoping your generosity and your value of the arts in education might be willing to help us achieve our goal.

It’s with gratitude and humility we are seeking small contributions from families and patrons past, present, and future to help fund this stage for our student performers and keep the LHS performing arts traditions alive. If you are able to donate even as little as $5 to our cause, you will be providing the hundreds of LHS performers with an opportunity that will bring happiness to our community, both on stage and in the audience.

There are several ways you can donate:

All money received, regardless of how you donate, will be shared among the theatre and music programs at LHS. If you’re unable to help financially currently, please know we still value your support and thank you for all you do to help provide access and opportunities to the Lakewood High School performing communities.

Thank you again for your time, consideration, and love for the arts. We are blessed to be a part of your community.
