Dear Lakewood High School Families,
Welcome to the 2022/2023 school year! We are so very excited to work with your student and family this coming year at Lakewood High School. As you may know, our school is currently at the end of a construction project and each day our construction crew is completing a variety of tasks to get our building working- and looking- great. Whether new LED energy efficient lighting, a performing arts storage area, flooring repair, roof repair, a new air cooling system (scheduled for November), or a new “secured vestibule” (more information at a later date), you will see some nice changes to our facility once the dust settles. This week is a big push to complete many of the projects so our building will be closed though August 8th as our construction teams complete their projects. Though we are messy at the moment, we are confident that our school will look great as we start the year with your students.
As the beginning of school approaches, I wanted to reach out to let you know some important information so that you can add some key dates into your calendars. More specifics will be forthcoming in the coming weeks and I apologize for the frequency of messaging ahead of time. I do ask that you please do your best to take some time to read our communication as we get closer to the school year.
We will be sending a more detailed email this week that includes various directions to help get your Campus information updated, pay for fees, register for free and reduced lunch, and additional information regarding the first few days of school, including a 9th grade specific letter.
We have many changes at LHS this year including people, policies, and practices. Whether our 20 plus new staff members, additional safety requirements using our secured vestibule on the east side of the building, or some new expectations around student dress, attendance/tardies, and cell phones (in class), we look forward to returning to some of the tenets that has made Lakewood one of the most successful schools in the state, year after year! We will be sending more information regarding these changes in the upcoming weeks.
Again, please try to carve out a little time to read our communication updates. We know there is a lot of information for you to follow, but we hope this communication will help your student- and family- have a successful start to the school year and a wonderful experience at Lakewood High School. Thank you for your continued support and welcome to Lakewood High School!
Warm regards,
Daniel R. Bock, M.A., Ed.S.
