Transitioning from Middle School
Starting high school is an exciting event in a student’s life and can also be a challenging time as well. Lakewood High School is committed to (and enjoys) supporting our 9th grade students as they transition into successful Lakewood students. Here are just a few of the programs and events we have in place:
9th Grade Orientation
A special day just for 9th graders to be in the building, meet new friends, and start getting acclimated to high school.
New Parent Orientation
Just for parents on the first day of high school.
Athletics and Activities Fairs
Being involved is one of the most important pieces to being a successful Tiger. We’ve got something for everyone.
Study Hall & Study Skills
Required for all 9th grade students.
Peer Mentoring
Juniors and Senior students support 9th graders in Study Hall classes.
Link Leaders
Junior and Senior students run 9th Grade Orientation and connect with 9th graders throughout the school year in TigerTime.
Grades and Credits Presentation (ICAP)
Learning what courses and credits are required for graduation.
Learning Style Preferences (ICAP)
Learning what a student’s preferred learning style is and how it translates to being a successful student.
Career Cluster Presentation (ICAP)
Searching for careers and college majors.
Course Registration (ICAP)
Connecting career goals with courses available at LHS. Signing up for 10th grade classes.
