Why Lakewood High School?

Academically, LHS known for its rigorous and diverse curriculum that caters to a wide range of interests and academic needs. Lakewood High School is the home of the largest International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Program in Jefferson County (since 1996), that offers one of the best college prep and college credit programs in the world. The school boasts a variety of Advanced Placement (AP) courses, allowing students to challenge themselves and earn college credits while still in high school. This not only prepares them for the academic rigors of college, but also offers a financial benefit by potentially reducing college course loads. We also have a highly successful engineering program that has been part of the NASA HUNCH for over 10 years.

Beyond academics, LHS provides a vibrant and inclusive community where students can thrive socially and personally. The school's wide array of extracurricular activities, including winning sports programs, one of the best performing arts program, art classes and various clubs, ensures that every student can find a niche where they can pursue their interests and passions. This involvement outside the classroom is essential for holistic development, fostering skills such as teamwork, leadership, and time management. The school’s strong sense of community and spirit instills a sense of belonging and pride among students, making their high school experience both memorable and fulfilling.
