Mathematics

Jeffco mathematics teaching and learning embraces a problem-based approach, grounded in the belief that every student possesses the potential to master grade-level mathematics. In our program, students learn math by doing math. 

Jeffco mathematics classrooms are joyful communities of learners engaged in rigorous, collaborative mathematical experiences facilitated by educators who support each and every student to develop conceptual understanding, procedural fluency and adaptive reasoning skills that transfer to their daily lives and future careers.

The math department at Lakewood High School strives to create thinking classrooms where students collaborate and work together. We offer different levels of support to meet the needs of all students and learning styles. Our goal is to provide the mathematical skills necessary for students to be successful at the college level or in the workplace.

Math classes offered include regular and advanced options in Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, Intermediate Algebra, Pre-Calculus, and Statistics. We also have AP Pre-Calculus, AP Calculus AB and BC and AP Statistics. We are proud to be an IB school and offer IB Math at both the SL and HL levels.
