Social Studies at Lakewood High School
The Social Studies Department at Lakewood High School (LHS) strives to help students develop critical thinking skills, build a base of knowledge about historical content and current events, and develop the academic skills to excel in college and the workplace.
The staff prides itself on educating students of all abilities, and offers seven Advanced Placement courses that may start freshman year. LHS regularly has the highest average Advanced Placement exam scores in the district. The department's students have won numerous awards and championships in the Stock Market Game, Economics, and History Day competitions.
