Engineering & STEM

The STEM and engineering fields offer high-demand and high-paying jobs. These classes provide students with the skills needed to continue their education and pursue careers in engineering. Whether in design, construction or application, students are exposed to a variety of opportunities.

One of the most successful parts of the Lakewood High School (LHS) STEM and engineering program is its involvement with NASA’s HUNCH project-based learning program for Biomedical Science and for Design and Prototype Engineering. LHS students have traveled to the space launch site in Florida to watch their projects go into space.

Lakewood High School Stem Endorsed Diploma Information

What is a STEM endorsed diploma?

Lakewood High School offers a dynamic STEM course pathway that blends manufacturing technology, visual arts, and advanced science and math coursework. This program culminates in a student-directed STEM Capstone class, where students apply real-world engineering and scientific concepts in a meaningful, hands-on project.

Thanks to Colorado House Bill 17-201, signed into law in May 2017, high schools across the state can now offer STEM-Endorsed Diplomas. Lakewood High School, in partnership with community stakeholders and Jefferson County School District leaders, is proud to be one of only four schools in the district to provide this opportunity.
