This is the image for the news article titled AC/DC Electronics CourseAs we head towards the 19-20 school year, Lakewood has presented with the opportunity to possibly offer an AC/DC Electronics course. This course would be offered at LHS and partnered with Spartan College so students could earn 3 credit hours. This course could become part of a larger aviation pathway and is the first course students would need to pursue careers in a wide range of fields including aerospace, robotics, unmanned aerial vehicle, communications, satellites, oil & gas, and airframe and powerplant certification. At this time, we are trying to see how many students may be interested in this course for the 2019-2020 school year. It would be a year long class, and could be taken as a seventh class. There are no prerequisites for the course.

The course description is:

Electricity/Electronics (year long / 2 semester course) This lab based course will introduce students to the concepts, components, and devices related to both DC and AC electronics. Upon completion of this class, students should understand the concepts of voltage, current, and resistance and various circuit components including conductors, semiconductors, resistors, insulators, and capacitors. Students will understand how these components react in series, parallel, and series-parallel circuits.
