On April 9, the upperclassmen of Lakewood High School had their annual prom. Due to Covid-19, last year's seniors were given an untraditional prom at the Denver Zoo. This year's prom, however, was for both juniors and seniors, and guests were allowed. It was hosted at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, and it went until eleven o'clock at night, when students were encouraged to attend an after-prom held at LHS until two o'clock in the morning.

The theme for the prom was Mission Im-prom-sible, and considering the venue, this theme was the perfect choice. The student senate was able to make this night an incredible success. They organized a slideshow for the attendees, including pictures submitted by the students and pictures from the infamous spoon game. Senate also made sure that students left with a souvenir; they set hundreds of sunglasses on tables for students to grab on the way out of the museum.

Among the prom royalty candidates, Oliva Talle and Conrad Simons were elected as Prom King and Queen. The two looked amazing dressed in their prom attire as they celebrated their win. As the crowd thinned out and the dancing slowed down, students made their way back across town and towards the after-prom.

The after-prom was arguably one of the best parts of the evening. The PTSA worked hard to create the perfect environment for students to let loose. The atriums and gyms were converted into a carnival-style environment. There were activities like henna tattoos, carnival games, and bouncy houses, all of which were totally free. The teachers’ deck had been converted to a casino, where students were encouraged to show off their card playing skills. Many students say that after-prom was "the best part of the night."

Thanks to the PTSA and senate, as well as all of the administrators and teachers that were able to make this night happen. Prom was a huge success. It was a great way to bring the school together, especially after the crazy past two years with Covid-19. Many thanks to everyone who made this night possible.
