Instrumental Music
The Lakewood High School (LHS) Instrumental Music Program consists of the Bengal Regiment Marching Band, two bands, three orchestras, jazz band, two percussion classes, winter guard, winter percussion and pit orchestra. With more than 250 students enrolled in classes, the band and orchestra program is one of the largest organizations at LHS.
LHS ensembles have a history of excellence. The wind ensemble has been selected to perform 11 of the past 13 years for the State Concert Band Festival and the Bengal Regiment has been a 13-time CBA state finalist. The chamber orchestra was selected to perform at the 2007, 2011, 2014, 2018 and 2023 Colorado Music Educators Association (CMEA) Conference, and the wind ensemble was selected to perform in 2013.
The instrumental music program has a very active parent booster organization, Lakewood Performing Arts Council (LPAC), which helps with every facet of the program.

Lakewood Performing Arts Council
The Lakewood Performing Arts Council (LPAC) is the LHS music booster organization supporting instrumental music students. The council provides financial assistance with instruments, instructors and clinicians, transportation, food, entry fees, music and more. It’s an important part of the instrumental music department and is becoming increasingly important with each passing year as school budgets get smaller and smaller.
LPAC meets the first Wednesday of every month at 6 p.m. The meeting is open to all parents and students. Meetings are an excellent way to keep in touch with what is happening regarding events, volunteer opportunities, and the operation of the organization.
