Dear Lakewood Families,

Happy Friday! This weekend is Labor Day Weekend, thus no school on Monday! This three day weekend is always a nice respite from the sprint that happens during the first few weeks of school. Our students are doing a pretty good job of going to class, mostly on time, and getting involved in Lakewood. You should be seeing some homework and hopefully hearing about new friends and teachers. All in all, I feel that we have had a pretty good start. We continue to have ongoing issues with our air conditioning system but have a few tricks for working through the extra hot days. Despite this minor hiccup, I am deeply proud of our students, teachers, and staff for their efforts in August as we have had a strong start to the year! Have a safe and relaxing Labor Day!

Homecoming Dance Information

Lakewood Students and Families, as many of you may know, Lakewood High School's Homecoming is approaching quickly! The Homecoming Dance is on Saturday, September 16, beginning from 8:00 pm - 11:00 pm. To attend the dance, all students must have purchased a ticket and bring their Lakewood ID. Tickets for Homecoming go on sale Wednesday, August 30, and will be sold until September 12. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased on Infinite Campus, where student fees are paid. Each student needs a ticket to be able to enter the dance. No tickets will be sold at the door. Physical tickets will not be given out this year, but a list will be compiled of those who have purchased tickets online to check at the entrance to the dance. (This is why students must have their Student IDs present at the dance.)

If your student wishes to bring a guest from another high school to the dance, they must fill out a Guest Form and pay $10 cash. These forms may be picked up at the main office or printed from students' Google Classrooms and returned during lunches (with the cash). Guest forms must be turned in by September 12. Students from other schools will only be allowed in if they are on the guest list. Please review the guest form with your student.

Athletics and Activities Transportation Letter (repeat communication)

We want to share some important information about transportation for our high school athletics and activities programs. Our Transportation Department is committed to providing transportation to as many athletics/activities events as possible this fall. Given the current reality of the national school bus driver shortage, we will not be able to provide transportation to all of our students who participate in athletics and activities. Jefferson Center School Based Therapist

Jefferson Center and Jeffco Public Schools have partnered for over 25 years to provide support to children and families in the district. The school-based therapist program is an innovative collaboration, with the primary goal of increasing access to mental health services for students and their families. Estimadas familias de Lakewood:

¡Feliz viernes! Este fin de semana celebramos el Día del Trabajo, por lo tanto, no hay clases el lunes. Este fin de semana de tres días será un buen respiro de andar en las carreras de las primeras semanas de clases. Nuestros estudiantes realizan un buen trabajo de ir a sus clases, mayormente a tiempo, y de participar en Lakewood. Se darán cuenta de que tienen algunas tareas y ojalá se enteren sobre los nuevos amigos y profesores. En general, creo que hemos tenido un buen comienzo. Seguimos teniendo problemas con nuestro sistema de aire acondicionado, pero tenemos algunos trucos para trabajar durante los días más calurosos. A pesar de este pequeño contratiempo, estoy profundamente orgulloso de nuestros estudiantes, profesores y personal por el esfuerzo que desplegaron en agosto, ya que hemos tenido un buen comienzo de año. Información del baile de bienvenida

Estudiantes y familias de Lakewood, como muchos de ustedes saben, la fiesta de bienvenida de Lakewood High School se acerca rápidamente. El baile de bienvenida es el sábado, 16 de septiembre, a partir de las 8:00 p. m. hasta las 11:00 p. m. Para asistir al baile, todos los estudiantes deben haber comprado un boleto y traer su identificación de Lakewood. Las entradas para el baile de bienvenida salen a la venta el miércoles, 30 de agosto y se venderán hasta el 12 de septiembre. Estos formularios pueden recogerse de la oficina principal o imprimirse del Google Classroom de los estudiantes y devolverlos a la hora del almuerzo (con el dinero en efectivo). Los formularios de invitados deben entregarse antes del 12 de septiembre. Se permitirá la entrada de los estudiantes de otras escuelas solo si figuran en la lista de invitados. Se ruega que revisen el formulario de invitado con su hijo/a.

Pronto se enviará más información sobre las actividades de la semana y un recordatorio sobre lo que los estudiantes deben traer. Estamos muy contentos de verlos a todos ahí.
