About Me:

I have been living in Colorado for 19 years. I came here from Florida where I lived and taught for 6 years. I grew up in Rhode Island and went to college in Connecticut. I have always had a great love of everything outdoors. The only thing I miss here in Colorado is the ocean, which had always been a big part of my life growing up.

You can see my boys Adrian (13) and Sebastian (10) in the picture above. Both boys are very different but manage to find a few common interests to keep them from fighting too much. Adrian is a junior weather watcher for channel 4 and certified NOAA storm spotter. He loves everything weather related, but tornadoes are his true passion. He starts 8th grade this year. Sebastian is really interested in snakes at the moment and really wants to catch a venomous snake, but promises to wait until properly trained (probably a good idea after being bitten twice so far by garter snakes). Sebastian is super shy and quiet, but also can’t sit still for very long which is why he is not looking forward to going back to school where he starts 5th grade.

My wife Erika will be starting her 3rd year at Columbine High School as a Spanish teacher  (let the rivalry continue). She was teaching Spanish at Adrian and Sebastian’s school prior to that, so she got to have my boys in class. She was a Science and Spanish teacher before staying at home with the boys for 8 years. We have been married for 15 years and enjoy spending as much time as we can as a family.

Our dog Thunder is now 7. We were told he would be a midsized dog of about 45 pounds when we adopted him. He is now 111 pounds and full of energy, but he is starting to slow down a bit. He is a great dog and a good companion for the boys. We also adopted another dog just over a year ago, Neo, who Thunder tolerates for the most part, but definitely tires of his constant energy. Neo is a sweet puppy and is the lap dog that Thunder can not be.

This is my 20th year at LHS. This is my 26th year teaching. I have been teaching Earth Science all those years and this will be my 7th year teaching physics. I am looking forward to collaborating with my Mrs. Armbrustmacher and Mr. Schultz to continue to develop the curriculum for Honors Earth Science, to incorporate PBL (Project Based learning) and NGSS (Next generation Science Standards) to better prepare students to apply scientific knowledge to unique situations and be able to think and reason scientifically.
